Baselworld may not kick off until Wednesday, but Patek Philippe is already dropping bombs. First of all, they now have an Instagram account, which may not be groundbreaking for the rest of the world, but this is Patek Philippe, after all. And to be clear, I’m not talking about the account they created for one ten day event that happened one time in one city – this is a real official, full-time Patek Insta account! They have generally shied away from social media platforms in the past, but it’s never too late to start. And what was their first post (or 12)? An introduction to two new timepieces to add to the Travel Time Collection.
After sifting through the 12 posts, each complete with videos and slides shows (which is the most Patek Philippe thing ever), I have uncovered the details on the new watches. First we have the reference 7234R, the first-ever self-winding travel watch for ladies by Patek Philippe. It features the caliber 324 S C FUS movement complete with 22k rotor, 37.5mm rose gold case, and brown sunburst dial. The watch shows two-time zones with day/night indication with home and local time. The second is not a new watch per se, but the 5524, which was released in 2015 in white gold with blue dial, (and worn by the likes of Ed Sheeran) and which is now available in rose gold with brown dial.
This is all the information we have for now, but stay tuned for more details as the week goes on including live pictures. And be sure to give Patek Philippe a follow on the ‘gram.
