For all those thank you notes you’ll be writing after the holidays, you’re going to need a good pen. Dubbed the “Embassy Pen,” these government issued writing utensils were given to foreign service workers to carry inside foreign embassies when all other forms of weapons were checked at the door. Inside is the Fisher Space Pen Cartridge, which was originally created for NASA for writing requirements while in space; these are pressurized so that you can write upside down, in zero gravity, underwater, etc. (perfect for diving). The hefty weight and industrial look only add to the overall cool factor of this unusual writing instrument. Get the Embassy Pen in black aluminum, stainless steel, or brass here.
Zenith Elite 6150
With the Chronograph Classic, this Zenith captures the minimalist aesthetic of the Elite line, while also boasting an El Primero movement. The combination of dress watch and chronograph functionality is reminiscent of some of our favorite watches from the 1960s. The Wristwatch Handbook
The Wristwatch Handbook is a reference book in the truest sense of the word: a publication you keep coming back to verify assumptions and learn more. One of the biggest assets of this text is its approachability; it’s suitable for amateurs and seasoned collectors alike. In this book you’ll find answers to all of your basic technical questions alongside some of the most advanced horological concepts, from the remontoir d’égalité to the Equation of time. In short, this is a must-have if mechanical watches are your thing. Shop all horological books here.
HODINKEE Limited Edition Shell Cordovan Billfold Wallet
Tanned at the world famous Horween Leather Company in Chicago, Illinois, Shell Cordovan has become some of the most sought after leather in the world. The thin, robust nature of the material makes it ideal for many uses (including watch straps), but the best thing about shell is the way that it patinas beautifully over time. Each of these wallets takes a full day to produce, as they are cut and sewn by hand here in the US, and each requires more shell than a pair of Shell Cordovan dress shoes. These limited edition wallets were a hit last year, and we’ve made just a few more this holiday season. Once they’re gone, they’re gone – pick yours up here.
Oris Big Crown Original Pointer Date
Oris’s pointer date complication debuted in a Big Crown watch for aviators in the 1930s, and this modern version recreates everything we love about the original. This piece has the defining visual cues of a pilot’s watch from that era, but comes with an automatic Sellita movement outfitted with Oris’s signature red rotor. You get vintage style and modern reliability in one great package. Shop the Oris Big Crown Original Pointer Date here.
