NOMOS has just announced two new white dial additions to their water-ready Aqua series. Now offering a bright white dial for both the 36mm Ahoi Neomatik and the 37mm Club Neomatik, these two new models manage to split the difference between NOMOS’s more stoic coloring (like the Ahoi Atlantik), and their most bold (like the Signal red Ahoi). Dubbed “Siren White,” the dials are balanced with blue hands and red accents for the markers and sub seconds hands. Replete with lume for both the hands and markers, this pair offers a strong mix of versatility while not forgetting the brand’s signature use of color and levity.
I love a white-dialed sport watch and I think the mix of the white dial with the red and blue accents works really well for these two new variants from NOMOS. White dials tend to look great with steel cases, offer strong legibility, and when paired with the included light gray fabric strap, an undeniable summery charm. Swap that light strap for a navy blue NATO or a dark brown leather strap, and it’s an all-year look that feels distinct in a sea of black and blue dials.
Both models sport the NOMOS in-house Neomatik DUW 3001, a very thin movement which ensures an overall slim presence on wrist. Measuring just 9.6mm thick for the Ahoi, and 9.3mm for the Club, both of these watches still a manage 200 meters water resistance, have screw-down crowns, and sapphire crystals both front and back. While both the Club and the Ahoi already come in the brand’s standard “white silver-plated” dial, I like the flat bright of Siren White and the use of the red and blue accents for some additional visual interest. Summer or not, the NOMOS aesthetic works so well with a bright dial color, and these new white dials offer some visual punch without getting too wild for day to day wear.
