The nice thing about watch brands that do everything in-house is that you can go back and figure out exactly how everything came together to form the watch that ends up on your wrist. With NOMOS, this means being able to trace things back to the very earliest brainstorming stages, through the entire design process (both aesthetic and technical), and then on into production and quality control. Back in 2016, Cara and Will paid a visit to NOMOS, checking out both the design studio in Berlin and the actual watchmaking facilities in Glashütte to get an in-depth look at the then-new Neomatik collection and how it came to be.
From the beginning, the goal with the Neomatik collection was to create a series of stylish watches built with an ultra-slim automatic movement at their core. They needed to be thin, but also extremely accurate and still able to be sold inside the core NOMOS price range. This was a tall order and there are a number of characters involved in the watches’ creation. Cara’s story details the entire development process, while the video allows the people responsible for the watches to tell the story in their own words, detailing the challenges and the successes.
