Readers of HODINKEE are certainly no strangers to the watches of Ed Sheehan. The singer-songwriter known for his deeply soulful songs has a well-known penchant for wearing great watches – so far we’ve spotting him wearing Patek Philippe references 5524G and 5130R, amongst others. Today though, we’ve got something a little bit different for you.
If you follow Sheeran on Instagram, then you may have noticed him wearing a white gold A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk in a photo from a recent performance in Germany. How appropriate. The idiosyncratic German watch is notable for its use of a jumping mechanical-digital display for the depiction of the time. This display echoes the big date displays found on many Lange wristwatches, which are themselves inspired by the digital time display above the stage at Dresden’s Semper Opera House.
The watch isn’t particularly large in this image, nor does it stand out in any crazy way. But if you know what you’re looking at, it’s impossible to miss it. Here’s a slightly larger version of the image from Instagram so you can get a closer look.
If you scroll through Sheeran’s IG feed, you’ll notice that he’s wearing a watch – usually something quite nice – in virtually every shot that clearly shows his left wrist. In addition to the Lange seen here, you’ll find watches from Patek, from Richard Mille, and more. Do some digging and let us know your favorite finds in the comments below.
