London, your watch game is on point. Not that we ever doubted you. But we had never really had the chance of meeting up with the British contingent of our readership – until this week. On Tuesday, HODINKEE took over Bart’s – a late night speakeasy and, in retrospect, perhaps one the most American bars in London – and met with some of the UK’s most enthusiastic watch collectors. Here’s what they brought along with them.
We saw a lot of things new â including recently launches from Tudor, Blancpain and Omega – some things old â ranging from a stunning and possibly radioactive Bakelite, to a lug-a-rific Angelus Chronodato â and, as well, de rigeur Daytonas both vintage and up-to-the-minute new.
While most guests wore their collector’s items on the wrist, a few also carried some impressive gear in their pockets. Hidden, but not for long, was this petite Longines pocket watch. Â And it was a treat to see one of limited edition Drake’s for HODINKEE Genta pocket squares, back in the UK where it was made.
Our editorial team is still in London until Sunday, and can be found in the Harrods Fine Watch Room, where they are currently hosting a pop-up of vintage pieces as well as other products from our Shop. We hope you’ll come by and say hello (especially if you couldn’t join us at the cocktail, we’d love to meet you). We’ll be at Harrods through Sunday. And of course we want to thank everyone who joined us for making our first meet-and-greet with friends and readers in London a big success â a pleasure and privilege to meet you all! All watches shown worn by guests and thanks to everyone for letting us share your timepieces with our readers!
